2018 Programming List is Here!!

Hi everyone, we’ve got some exciting programming news! Voting has ended, and we’ve confirmed our list of programming topics for you! Not everyone has finalized their titles yet, so these are descriptions of the panels, group discussions, and workshops you’ll be seeing next month, along with fandoms that will be discussed. More fandoms may make an appearance, but our panelists, group discussion facilitators, and workshop leaders will definitely be discussing everything you see below. And without further ado, here they are:

Panels

  • Joy in the face of the Apocalypse
  • Incest In Fandom (Flowers in the Attic, that Folgers commercial, Marvel, etc.)
  • Animated Gay (Voltron, Yuri on Ice, etc.)
  • Fandom History: From Zines to AO3
  • History of Boy Bands (Beatles, Monkees, Backstreet Boys, 1D)
  • HBIC: The Marginalization of Outspoken Women (multiple fandoms, probably Marvel, others TBD)

Workshops

  • How to Make Your Own Custom Plushie (materials provided!)
  • Tabletop RPGs 101 (probable focus on D&D 5E, how to DM, character creation, etc.)
  • Stitch ‘n’ Bitch (bring your current crafting project or learn to knit–materials provided)
  • Makeup How-Tos for Newbies

Special Events

  • Vid Show (multi-fandom–the list will be revealed in the program)
  • Fannish Trivia
  • Badfic Idol (intentionally bad fic written by attendees and presented in dramatic form)
  • Saturday Night Dance Party

And there you have it! We had a ton of incredible submissions this year, and are very excited for all of the fantastic discussion and squee that’s sure to ensue.
