Please note that these are all volunteer roles. CONfabulation is a fan run convention, so we rely on the contributions of the fan community to keep ourselves going!

Associate Director of Team Operations

Quite possibly the most important member on the team, the person who keeps track of everything. If you love organization, aren’t shy about poking people into responding, and have a proclivity towards herding cats, you just might be the perfect person for this role!

Responsibilities:

  • Takes meeting notes
  • Schedules meetings
  • Contacts committee members for meetings and tracks attendance
  • Keeps track of individual team progress
  • Keeps track of schedules and priorities for each team
  • Maintains Google Calendar

Qualifications:

  • You’re organized
  • You’re people-oriented
  • You’re task-oriented
  • You have an eye for details that might easily get overlooked
  • You know your way around a spreadsheet, Doodle, Discord, and Trello
  • You can commit around 5-10 hours a week to this role

Diversity Coordinator

Promoting inclusivity and diversity is something that CONfab is intensely committed to. If you’re a person who has always wanted more representation and inclusivity in fandom spaces, and aren’t afraid to make your voice heard, then this might be the right fit for you!

Responsibilities:

  • Makes sure that the organization keeps to its commitment to diversity
  • Provides input on how to increase diversity in terms of programming, attendance, marketing
  • Researches how other conventions approach efforts on how to increase diversity, which includes directly contacting other convention committees
  • Crafts a broad-reaching strategy on diversity initiatives for the convention

  • You’re committed to diversity initiatives in both your personal and professional life
  • You can anticipate the needs and concerns of people
  • You’re amazing at research
  • You’re great at following up with people
  • You can commit about 5-10 hours a week to this role.

Budget Manager

Bills, Bills, Bills. We need someone to keep track of them, make sure they’re getting paid, etc. If you excel at numbers, spreadsheets, and task management – this might be the right fit for you!

Responsibilities:

  • Builds and updates con budget as needed
  • Ensures leadership staff pays invoices in a timely manner
  • Keeps track of all open and paid invoices
  • Keeps track of the budget, which includes collecting and saving receipts
  • Checks registration payments
  • Keeps track of outstanding payments from attendees, and sends off the list to Attendee Affairs team

Qualifications:

  • You’re familiar with the ins and outs of a budget
  • You have fantastic follow-through
  • You’re task orientated
  • You can commit at least 5 hours a week to this role

Social Media Associate

Social Media is crucial in the way that we promote our con, and this role is a big part of how we do that! Working in conjunction with our Social Media Marketing Strategist, this person will make sure that CONfab is doing it’s best to promote and keep track of all the engagement we have. If you’re social media obsessed and are familiar with the various platforms that fandom uses, then this might be a great fit for you!

Responsibilities:

  • Posts social media content across all platforms
  • Drafts social media content for proofing
  • Tracks social media engagement across all platforms where possible
  • Reports on social media engagement to team leaders

Qualifications:

  • You’re familiar with engagement and tracking tools for Twitter, Facebook, and other social media platforms that track engagement
  • You’re proficient in using most if not all the platforms that CONfab uses (Twitter, Dreamwidth, Tumblr, etc)
  • You have an eye for detail
  • You have excellent writing and communication skills
  • You can commit 5-10 hours a week to this role.
